Before the games are played, What would keep Wagner in his job?

Is he already safe?

Case for defense
Has the club seen enough improvement of going 13th to 6th while bringing in 20M in transfer fees.
Even if we don't go up does the 2nd half improvement give him some currency to try and improve the defensive side which has left us way off the pace of the top 4 teams.
The club will also look at the current players/squad.
relative to the perceived strength of the squad, did he underperform or overperform expectations?

Case for Prosecution
The mid season fall off was pretty shocking.
The crowd turned and most people thought he should have been sacked right then. (it had to have been pretty close)
Even accounting for injuries, we were pretty shocking.
A lot of the same players who did well at the end of the season were also playing then.
You can't argue our defensive record this season has been poor.
How much blame should the coaching staff take for defensive set ups.
Many feel we would do better under a better coach and the squad quality is better than out finishing position.
Many feel some of Wagners tactical decisions including in game substitutions have been a bit strange.
Many feel anything less than promotion is failure.
Some feel he should be sacked even if we get promoted!

IMHO if we get completely tonked vs Leeds there is a chance he gets sacked.
Reading between the lines recently he praised Webber but never mentioned Knapper..... bit strange that!
There is a small possibility that he has already been told he is being replaced for next season.
