I mean, there are hardly any high street banks open these days in any case. Also why are automated electronic payments delayed by one day? It’s not as if computer chips are having the day off, doing the gardening or watching Dambusters is it?
All of the card payments I take over the weekend credit my account one day later than usual. Multi lot that by hundreds of thousands of other businesses and your merchant services providers are sitting on a lot of money for one extra day.
I’m not bemoaning the actual day off, I think there should be more especially in the autumn. But why are they still called bank holidays?
