That generational descent thing does (still) surprise me - I know lots of people who emigrated to Oz, for example, and ALL their (male!) children support Australia in the Ashes. That’s where they were born avd brought up. They like their UK heritage in some ways, but sporting allegiance well and truly transferred.

I kind of approve of that. Their dads moan to me about it, but it represents a real “buy-in” to their country.

Anyway, there we go. It is what it is. Some of it, I suspect, is the UK failing to secure the loyalties of immigrants by being insufficiently welcoming.
