I harboured the romantic thought

That we were a bit different, that we could achieve something a bit special- success on an altogether more meaningful basis. I'm afraid that if this deal (in whatever form) goes ahead, we've just gone the way of a slightly depressing world. The excitement will be short lived, the regret I fear rather might be more permanent. But maybe I'm just a curmudgeonly old git.
