I think he made a rod for his own back

by being so vocal after the last relegation about how he was to blame and how this time Farke was going in with a tank and ultimately didn't make best use of the signings ("under the bonnet" etc).

The reality is simple and utter incontrovertible: no signing succeeded this season in adding anything to the squad... but he'll now never be questioned on that properly because he refuses to engage with any local media.

That in itself pretty much proves that he doesn't really have any answers that get him off the hook.
