Definitely worth anyone reassessing their relationship with alcohol, I reckon..

Like you I used to be (and have to keep a constant eye on not getting back there) stuck in the mindset of seeing drinking at the weekend as being a reward and/or just part of the weekend; the crazy thing is I used to drink even when I wasn't in the mood just because it was the weekend and I wouldn't really have a chance again until the following weekend! Crazy. And then other times I would drink and, to be honest, just not enjoy it - felt like getting a hang over for no benefit at all!

Last year I abstained for nearly 6 months. It was tough at first and I did have moments where I really wanted a drink, but I managed and the health benefits were huge. Main reason for doing that was as part of weight loss.

Now I am back to drinking every week and usually at the weekend, though thanks to what has been a pretty intense time for me with job applications, etc since Xmas I've definitely drunk more than I would normally do, so will be cutting it down a bit once I am settled in Norwich.

Going forward I probably will drink most weeks if not all and, yes, it will most likely be at the weekend; but I want to make sure I only drink when I know I am going to enjoy it rather than through a habit or similar.
