Clearly, I don’t know any of the relevant facts, and it’s not clear that the facts of the matter are presently known with certainty. But what I did say is that I fully understand why Southampton are having a good look at it, to see if they really want that statue once the facts are known.

Since you’re asking my view, prima facie, there is a very legitimate question here. There were a lot of football leaders at that time who didn’t want to know, or closed ranks and defended when there must have been rumours circulating or dark deeds. No, I don’t think I want to see statues of such people thanks. But let’s not jump to conclusions. Maybe this guy did his absolute best and was let down by others. Very fair point. And if so, let that story be told too.
