and much better than most of us would have done. We all get frustrated when we realise after the fact we should have done something we didn't do, particularly in a health-related situation; but to expect perfection of anyone is unrealistic and if it had been me out sparkers I'd far rather you showed up than someone who didn't care/didn't know anything at all. It ended well for the chap - he was handed off to the paramedic which was the best thing for him - and I bet next time you won't forget to check the spine or to make sure comms are accurate. I get why you're disappointed, angry even, with yourself: at the end of the day no-one actually got hurt, you helped him out, and you'll be sure to do the things you forgot next time out.
Be kinder to yourself, old thing; learn what's to be learnt and move on. A lot of people would just have left him there - as I say if it had been me I'd far rather you were there doing just what you did than not. I'm a bit rubbish at forgiving myself when I've not quite hit the standards I'd hope (I'm a carer for two vulnerable adults, who are also my kids). Don't be like me. We're all human at the end of the day.
