is that he makes absolutely no difference whatsoever and we fail to beat Derby's point score, AND EVEN THEN he can just say 'well, it was a really s**t team wasn't it?'.
Any uptick in form at all is something he can point to as a success. 'It was a really s**t team but I got more PPG out of them', 'It was a really s**t team but I almost saved them', 'it was a really s**t team and I finished 17th!'
And he gets to leave in the summer if he wants to. 'Webber wouldn't let me buy any of the targets we identified as being critical to future success which made my position untenable'.
(If he stays into the Championship, that's when the risks build for him. So, being a smart guy, he won't do that unless he thinks the team is amazing and will walk the league.)
