Show me a manager that isn't a risk?

This guy has demonstrated much greater coaching skills than Frank Lampard has demonstrated, and over a much longer period of time. Frank has managed what, 18 months as his longest managerial reign?

Frank of course can point to his ability to manage millionaire footballers in the premier league, which is of course the question mark over Knutsen. And don't get me wrong, that is a big question mark, as you rightly point out.

For me, I favour Knutsen because his upside potential seems to be much greater than Lampard's, and I can live with taking a bit of extra risk in order to have a shot at that. I feel like that's the only way NCFC has a medium term shot at performing above the level you'd expect from our wage budget.

Lampard, or any of the other candidates, wouldn't be risk free, and the more safe they are perceived to be means they probably have a smaller standard deviation in returns - a safe pair of hands might deliver playing performances in keeping with the ability of the squad, whereas what we need is a bit of overachievement.
