Webber has a reputation as a shrewd negotiator, as does Daniel Levy at Spurs.
When Spurs sold Modric Levy held out until 4 days before the end of the Window. Maybe that added £3m to the eventual transfer fee?
Amid this disruption Spurs first 3 league games (at Newcy, home v Wba & Norwich) garnered just two points.
And, at the end of the season, Spurs missed Champs Lge qualification by A SINGLE POINT. (worth a minimum of £7.2m, with group stages being £30m + match revenues)
Here it looks like getting Modric shipped out early would have been the correct decision.
