football spin in action

Relegation draws near.
Charlie Wyett publishes an Exclusive, stating unequivoally that City players will see wages cut by 50% if relegated

No ifs, buts or exceptions and the club allows the story to run without correction.
Pink Un repeats the story, labelling it as 'Reports'. Again, there is no official denial.

A few days later the Athletic is a little more specific:
"The upper limit of those reductions is 50 per cent for Norwich’s highest Premier League earners. For the majority the reduction is towards 30 per cent."

Bingo. The perception is that Norwich wages will be slashed by half, while the reality is that it will be nearer 30%.

Meanwhile the eye is drawn to the claim that the NCFC Academy was a shambles when Stuart Webber arrived ("our productivity was 82nd out of the 92 clubs"). An interesting claim bearing in mind this was just three years after winning the FA Youth Cup and the £20m sale of the Murphys.

Now just look at all the home-grown talent, and another success for the Webber-lution!
