You don't volunteer for the placebo. You volunteer for the trial

And you get meds without knowing if you are getting the placebo or not.

I guess what interests me is that with remdesivir or a working vaccine, there won't be enough to go around. There will be countries with meds and/or vaccines that work (to some extent) and they will not be exporting them which may cause some tensions...

What hasn't been pointed out much is that UK based GSK have a compound that increases the effectiveness of a vaccine. So you can get away with a smaller dose. Now this is obviously used in combination with a vaccine. So whoever comes up with a working vaccine will want to use the GSK booster and it's likely that there will be a reciprocal supply agreement. On top of that Oxford Uni and Astrazeneca are one of the leading vaccine development partnerships globally. Basically, the UK is looking in a good position to be in the front of the queue to get a vaccine.

With remdesivir, this is made in California as far as I am aware. Will Trump allow export of put 'America first'?
