People on here will know that i'm not usually the first one to wade in on the government

But I am close to losing it with this lot. Leaving aside the blatant and shameless lies at every opportunity the below answer from Hancock today to a question asked by an MP about the worrying high number of deaths hit home to me:

"Hancock says Sheerman had misjudged his tone, and missed what the government was doing. The prime goals were to flatten the curve, and to ensure the NHS was not overwhelmed. Both of those challenges had so far been met."

So the aim of our government here is not to stop as many people losing their lives as possible. Its just to keep the number of people losing their lives and in hospital at just below the capacity that the NHS can cope with.

I'm not sure i'm hugely comfortable with that "prime goal" - surely the prime goal should be to preserve the lives of their citizens in so far as is possible without completely economically destroying the country.
