I suspect it's until we can get the NHS upskilled/upequipped to deal with it

Germany with its higher ratio of ventilators atc is going to be a good guide. If they can cope more than Italy and us, it holds out some hope that there'll be a point where a country can accept a certain rate of infection and still be able to cope.

(It also means accepting a certain rate of deaths, which is a big decision that someone will need to take. I'm not sure that'll be us.)
