Dunno re actual hours involved but as Jim notes below, you ought to be able to get most decent firms to do it on a fixed fee basis. You should only be on hourly rates for complicated specialist work, which they will quote for and you can hold them to the quotes.

Costs depend on value of property, seller or buyer, leasehold or freehold, etc. Jim's price range looks about right.

Sale contracts are a standard base, with market standard negotiating positions depending on what issues arise in searches etc.

Unless you are selling something very simple I would use a proper law firm and not a cheapo conveyancing outfit.

Have used Lambert Pugh in Nodge and they were ok/inexpensive (10 yrs ago mind). I can put you in touch with the resi conveyancers at my firm if you want a quote (Bristol way, but shouldn't really matter - I used the Nodge firm for a property in Bristol. Wrathtastic.)
