People, on the whole, are decent

I'm lucky enough to work in a place which is (in the main) great.

I also have experience working with other organisations on this too.

I'd say that, in the main, people are decent and don't try/intend or want to do damage.

But there are 1-2% who (for a variety of reasons) are awful in how they act and react. How an organisation tackles those guys dictates the culture and the wider impact.

It's tricky stuff, and draining.

The solution to bullying is getting communication flowing in a safe space. There's no universal solution on How to deal with the example you give, as much depends on the personalities involved and the place you work.

But. It is always worth trying to nip these things in the bud and so, if you're able to talk with her directly about it, or her boss (or yours) informally, that's usually the way to go.
