Is not part of the problem here not use of phrases such as

“The baby is black” because Bakers point/claim really is that he wasn’t thinking about skin colour at all, he is saying he didn’t even consider that the baby is black (which he isn’t anyway - he has one black grandparent) until it was pointed out to him after the tweet.
