The statement

Having now read it, I wouldn't exactly describe it as a ringing endorsement of Worthington. For sure it gives him a load of credit and fails to describe how cringe-making his signings have beenthis season or his monotonous grinding out of work ethich, week in week out.

It does say that Delia and Michael still think Worthy should be given more time and goes on about stability which, it's true, is something that players and supporters for that matter like to see. It also suggests no change for the sake of change. But if I were Worthy I wouldn't necesarily be all that chuffed that this has been said. I'd say he's a mite more vulnerable now than he was at lunch time today.

Of course I might well be guilty of reading into it what I want to read into it, and I'd have been far happier if it had been Worthy's end. I also hope it's not the end result of a liquid lunch (given the timing and the aparent surprise nature of the statement)

Best thing to do is keep the pressure upand make sure (as far as we can) that he's gone before the summer.
