No one seems to be asking why the backstop is so important to the EU

If we can leave without a deal and a border appears next week why are they so insistent on locking us into an agreement we can’t withdraw from as part of a deal?

It strikes me as being nothing more than a politically motivated ploy to sabotage Brexit by offering a deal they know can’t be agreed by parliament

That’s reason enough to harden my views against the EU
