some players from yesteryear would have adapted and shone but back then they could rely more on their natural skill than they can now. no hiding place for slackers these days. recall mick channon laughing about playing for norwich and the oppo taking the piss out of his beer belly but still getting goals. it's a pointless exercise trying to compare eras, just enjoy the highs when they bowl up no need to get all snobby "i know best" about it. not that you are, just saying.
