Another way of looking at it

Is if she doesn't resign now and wins vote. Deal goes to parliament and is voted down and then a no confidence motion from Corbyn leads to a general election.

If she doesn't win confidence. She stays as PM until conservatives decide a new leader which will most likely be a brexiter who will extend article 50 and attempt to renegotiate. Failing that we go out with no deal which is something new leader would be prepared to do rather than may ruling out no deal completely leaving our negotiation position just as poor.

Either way it's lose lose lose all around.

What Davis suggested this morning had the support of Arlene foster indicating if may does lose, Davis will run for PM with the support of DUP back onside.

This is basically Mays chance to resign before a general election is called and she gets deposed anyway.
