Their issue is they have no strikers

If he can get a few fit they've not got a bad potential midfield there but selling Garner, Waghorn and McGoldrick in one summer and replacing them entirely with players who were not prolific at league 1 and 2 level was ridiculous.

Lambert was able to get us going because we had Holt, Hoolahan and Martin all scoring for fun. We didn;t play particularly well in quite a lot of games in league 1 (and as I recall we quite often would concede in games) but we were always able to get out of it and scrape a win or pull away in the second half of games because of our firepower.

he doesn't have that at the sc*m and I guess trying to address that will be his main priority in January. Until then he will hope the new manager bounce and having the squad more motivated may get them a few points over the next couple of months. the table is still very tight and any kind of decent run could see them out of the bottom three. as when he joined us he will have calculated that they are at a low ebb and he can;t really lose because if they go down the damage was already done but if he gets them out of it his stock rises.
