IMHO City have struggled in midfield for some time now. Each player is individually good, but they don’t mesh as a unit.
• Dorrans (30) can pick a good pass but is slow, also no Ian Crook
• Tettey (31) great screen for the defence, prefers to pass short but doesn’t score nor has ‘vision’
• Howson (29) technically superb but not box to box
I think that it is hard to blend those three
I would like us to have a box to box player with pace and power. Someone like Thompson was on the day he was man of the match. Someone who can hit a tackle fairly and robustly while winning the ball. What we need is a dominant midfield player.
I feel that all the comings and goings are to ensure that we have the correct blend of players to fit in with the style of play that Farke wants.
Also the squad is aging. Dorrans and Tettey are past their prime, whilst Howson has probably peaked too, although I’d love him to stay.
A rebuilding job is necessary
