VIMTO. Great advice. I would just add set a budget and decide what kind of riding you're

going to do and in what conditions.

I.e. Racing, Audax, Sportive, club rides?

Summer only, all seasons in all weather, tarmac only or gravel/mud?

There's a road bike for every one of the above.
