It's more that we haven't filled the positions of players that have left

We have got rid of the following since Alex Neil started:

BJ
Grabban
Hooper
Redmond
O'Neil
VOO

And whilst in isolation that all looks like good business, it isn't because we haven't signed replacements for any of these players that will actually be better than them in the same position (except Vadis who I guess Pritchard and Naismith could be said to play the same role as).

That list of players scored 45 league goals when we were last in the Championship.

We needed strikers in the summer to give the squad a good balance, so when we missed out on McCormack we should have gone for the next best option in that position, rather than spunking our cash on Pritchard. I was pleased we signed Pritchard, he's a good player, but he's not the player we needed.

We all moaned that we relied on Gary O'Neil last season to play the deep sitting midfielder role, and that was absolutely right to be disappointed by as he shouldn't have been our best option in that position. Him leaving was fine, but we didn't replace him. Mind boggling.
