Makes absolutely no sense at all.

Why would a team mate ( one that was liked or otherwise) take the piss to the extent that it would have a detrimental effect on the overall ability of the team to win games.

I think this whole thing is bollox. Ashton went because he was playing in a team performing way below his own ability, whilst at the same time dragging his own performances down.
