Waghorn states (unless he's inventing his own rumours)

"Dean got the piss ripped out of him completely in the dressing room by the boys on the back of all the internet rumours". Don't doubt it. It's what happens in dressing rooms. It's what happens in nearly every workplace in the world. More often than not it's harmless, on occasion it's not - that's got more to do with the nature of the people involved than with the actual rumour or, indeed, the source of the rumour. When it reaches the level where it's badly affecting the person on the sharp end then it seems to me that it's a disciplinary problem.
