Do you not see the contradiction there?
If we 'badly need a new CB' (which we 100% do BTW) then surely being 2nd in league despite this obvious weakness is a GOOD thing?
The fact that we didn't get a replacement is a problem, if AN felt we didn't need one that is a bigger problem, but recruitment isn't just down to him. If we didn't get who he asked for (and we'll never actually know this) then he has to do what he can with a squad we all know is weak in a key area.
If we accept that weakness exists, we have to accept it will affect our performances.
If a CB was "Badly needed" you can't expect that to have no effect on the side.
We are doing well despite that, it is a worry it wasn't addressed, whether that is down to AN or the board.
