Well I would say the main mistakes/flaws from last season were

1. Playing Steven Whitaker at right back.

2. Playing Russell Martin at centre back.

3. Dropping Wes Hoolahan for perceived tougher away games.

4. Not buying the striker/centre back we so badly needed in the transfer window.

5. Playing Howson in a wide midfield position.

6. Failure to be able to positively influence games through substitutions/tactical changes.

7. Constant tinkering with the team unnecessarily.

I will accept that 3 and 7 have not been as prevalent this season and that 4 is not all down to the manager but so far with the season just 12 games in all of the above have already been repeated. Indeed with Whitaker and Martin he has at times actively selected those players in those positions when he had other options available. Thankfully now Whitaker has again been dispensed with.
