Selling Johnson is a bit of a surprise, but really I don't think that's an offer we could turn down assuming he was keen on the move.
A centre back would have been great, but not someone on massive wages who wouldn't be worth it. To some extent we're paying the price still for poor recruitment in the past and the only way to end that is to make sure we don't sign players for the sake of it.
A good quality centre back coming in would have made this a good window. As it is it's an ok window. It's not a disaster. The squad is stronger as a result.
