the overwhelming majority goes on players wages. Our TV income has probably dropped by over 75% this year and I bet our wage bill hasn't. That shortfall has to be made up somehow. And we were told when we bought Deano that part of the money came from this year's parachute payment so some of that had already gone LAST season. We also bought promotion by spending money we didn't have at the time, which soaked up some of the Prem riches before we started. Football clubs are VERY expensive things, and transfer fees often aren't one of the larger expenditures even though that is what everyone seems to base their finance calculations on.
