Hotels

It?s worth having a look in all the hotels on the strip, just to get an idea of the sheer magnitude of them, and I have listed the ones we visited in our time there in no particular order.

Bellagio: One of the best-known hotels in Vegas and featured in Oceans 11. Fabulous hotel and well worth a wander round, very romantic, especially the free dancing fountains display every ? quarter of an hour after dark and it?s free.

Caesars Palace: Again featured in many films and well worth a look, free show is the Atlantis show in the shopping mall, daily, but not sure of the times though, heard it going on as we were shopping.

Treasure Island: Another great hotel and a free show outside at 7pm, 8.30pm, 10.00pm and 11.30pm.

Aladdin: Yet another worth a look and right next to a shopping mall (which is covered in another topic.

Venetian: Super hotel, don?t forget to look at the ceilings! You can get a gondola ride outside or on the 2nd floor.

Paris: Eiffel tower outside which you can go to the top of, and again a lovely hotel, with a fabulous restaurant (which again is covered by another topic).

New York New York: Our favourite hotel, with a fine Irish bar and a roller coaster, which circles the building ($12.50 each).

MGM Grand: Great hotel with a lion enclosure by the entrance, absolutely huge take care not to get lost.

The Mirage: Volcano out the front that erupts every ? of an hour after dark, which again is free.

The Flamingo: The name says it all, flamingos out by the pool area.

Hard Rock Hotel: Cab ride to it (about $8.00 but free bus ride back), but worth the visit, as you can eat at the caf? next door (see below)

Mandalay Bay Hotel: Worth it for the shark reef alone. $15.95 per person.

The Luxor: Egyptian theme and on the way to the Mandalay Bay.

Excalibur: See Luxor but based on round table theme.

All the hotels have their own shopping precincts, which are mainly Dior, Gucci, Versace, Armani, and Boss etc. Very elegant but bloody expensive and well out of my price range!
