It's interesting that the US probe only focuses on two out of the six regions

I'm sure England sailed close to the wind with Jack Warner, inter alia, last time out - we're not as innocent as we'd like to think, though we're hopefully nowhere near as guilty as that c**t Blatter.

Honestly in a lot of meltdown situations the answer is to change the leadership, go back to the Why and start again. However in this case it's so rotten to the absolute core I can't help thinking that it really is a case of tear it all up.

Leave 2018 with Russia if needs be to mollify Putin. But everyone pull out of FIFA and do it properly, from the ground up, with the right safeguards built in, proper transparency and accountability and a system of governance that's at least remotely defensible. And human rights built in so we never again see so many "cheap" lives sacrificed to help a nation deliver a few stadia for a few games of football.

Honestly, I think FIFA is unreformable and the only answer is to start from zero. To be sure, despite it all, FIFA has done an incredible job in promoting and propelling football to the front as the major world sport (name any other sport you can go literally anywhere and talk about - I travel very widely with work and though I can talk cricket in some places and pretend to understand rugby (I really don't) in others, football is the lingua france worldwide). However it's now in a place I don't think it can get away from. Blatter must go, but FIFA must go too.
