The team/squad has lost its identity IMHO

We went from hungry British players in LG1 and the champs (and the first season in the PL)
To more of a mercenary squad with foreign/loan players.

This isn't a "Jonny foreigner" racial thing, we made the same mistakes under Worthy in 2004.

You have to wonder if the new players coming in (on big wages) upset the current group who got us to this position through the rougher times.

The good news is that relegation will see a big clear out. Maybe we need a new identity, new leaders to take us forward.
