A friend of mine, a pharmacology PhD no less, swears that the best way to cut down on

fat intake, outside of a strict medically imposed fat-free diet, such as someone waiting for a cholecystectomy might require, is a dessert-spoon full of olive oil after breakfast. Not very pleasant, but a "good" fat, and stops the body craving stuff like cheese, choc or biscuits.

May have been a tablespoon, rather than a dessert spoon. Dunno.
