It really does seem that it has that much influence

Whoever can come up with the 'cure' for confidence deficit that doesn't have Eileen Drewery or inner chimp connotations will be onto an absolute f**king winner. Seems bizarre that such 'coaching' is dismissed so often by football when it's plainly obvious it's a huge part.
