?1 Million To Replace Worthington, Mr Doncaster?

Well Mr Doncaster, isn't that the fault of the board for giving him such a lucrative and open-ended contract?

You all need to take a good long look at yourselves, if your watchword is "prudence", then letting that fly out of the window by handing out such a contract to a manager, and, lets be honest, needs us, and needed us, more than we needed him, is nothing short of financial stupidity.

Why the long and costly contract? What other clubs were you warding off by awarding such a seemingly prosperous and extremely well paid contract to an un-proven manager? What clubs have you all had to warn off making an approach for him in the last couple of years or so because he is such a respected and in demand manager? None. Will you ever have to invoke whatever release clause is in his contract if he is "poached" by someone? No. Worthington says his ambition is to manage in the Premiership-will he ever, at any time in the rest of his career, manage another team, us, or someone else, in the Premiership, even for one game? No. And I bet you ?100 to ?1, payable to a nominated charity, that he won't either.

?1 million to replace Worthington? So it would mean selling a player to finance that? Great, do it-don't use that as a threat or emotional blackmail to the fans, do you think we're particularly worried about losing any of them at the moment? Don't you think some of us might actually think a move might be the best possible thing for the sake of Dean Ashton and his career, such is the slow state of decay that we are passing onto him here. Indeed, if we did sell him, how much profit would we make on the sale-and I assume we'd have to pay up that nice new contract you gave him?-including taking his wages and signing on fees into account, not very much, I bet.

Infact, GREAT! Yes, really-if sacking the manager means selling some players to finance his, and the coaching staffs removal, and getting in a new manager, then do it, I honestly think that it would be the very best thing that you could do-give a new man time and finance to assess and rebuild a squad to seriously look at getting us back in the Premiership NEXT season, thats if we aren't spending next season trying to get out of League 1 and yes, if you and your colleagues think that we're "too good" to go down, think again-bigger and better clubs than us have done so, and recently.

I respect you for taking the time and trouble to ring a concerned fan. But you are simply papering over the cracks with the way you counter negativity with more negativity. The time for change has long, long passed, and, if you are still all determined to "stick together" in this current situation, then I do wonder what your collective motives really are.

And I would keep fairly quiet with regard to Andy Hughes costing in excess of ?1 million if I were you. After all, they don't seem to be doing too badly without him, do they?

Wake up. Smell the coffee. Instigate change. NOW.
