Been reading through messages from last 12 hours and someone mentioned the training at Colney. I have several times over the past couple of years taken my boys down to training, you know the usual thing photos and autographs, and each time I am surprised by the lack of anything tactically they do. It seems to involve warming up, running round the pitch, make a circle and jokingly pass the ball to each other(or attempt to), or on a thursday or friday play the following matches team against the rest on a smaller pitch for about twenty minutes where all you learn is that Huckerby is quick, we still don't give him the ball, and Ashton is still trying to control passes with his head!!
I run an Under 11's side, have been with them for two years. We train once a week for an hour and a half. At this time of the year we do our warm ups and then straight into ball work, passing, crossing, dribbling, one touch, two touch, with possibly small sided games at the end to work on the stuff they have learnt that evening.
I have never seen that at Colney in all the times I have been there. Maybe I have just been unlucky.
Also watch any of the visitors teams warm up at Carrow Road(for those of you in the ground early enough) and see how much work they do with the ball, and then how much we do. Most of ours is physical, even the eleven v four they do is about chasing the ball down.
Is it just me or does anyone else think that the coaching staff we have here, from manager down to youth, is CR-P and hasn't got a bloody clue.
As someone said before many times, Ashton is half the player he was six months ago, ditto Hucks, McVeigh, Drury, can't all be down to luck!!!!
