One Chief Constable Has Said...

...he wants and would support and re-introduce the death penalty "for police killers".

Putting aside the death penalty debate here, is he saying that if you or I get murdered, then we'll still gete consoling words, an insurance reference, and a promise to give the perpetrators a slap on the wrist-yet if those same people murder a policeman/woman, then its the death penalty?

Hmm.
