policewoman shooting in Bradford

Innocent people get shot every day. Isn't the police reaction to 'one of their own' getting shot a bit OTT? The convoy of vehicles escorting those small time cons was unbelievable. Would they get the same treatment if they'd shot a mother who wasn't in the force?

I understand they have to make it a clearly heinous act, but I'm sure they wouldn't go to those lengths for my mum
