At the end of the day, we as supporters have a duty to support the players (there's a kinda clue in the root of the word). This sort of thing can only have a detrimental effect.

I'm afraid we're only making Worthington's (or his replacement's) job in boosting confidence - for that is all that's missing in a lot of circumstances, Ashton's for example - that much more difficult.
