I can well see why the board want 36 million and an indication of more investment
Let's be perfectly honest here - if Cullum bunged in 20 million for squad strengthening in return for control of the club he'd have completely ripped off the current owners.
Any shareholder who owns a controlling majority stake in a company renders the remaining shareholders completely powerless (in terms of their investment - which in effect becomes worthless).
If I'd ploughed my time and money into a company for 20 years and someone came along and said that they'd take it off my hands, but not to worry, it'll do well in the future (and - if we get to the premiership - potentially a moneyspinner) then you can be damn sure that I would want some kind of payback for my time, effort and investment.
Cullum is a shrewd man, but the vitriol being directed at Delia et al. on here this morning is ridiculous. The one side is worth an estimated 1.7bn and he can well afford to pay back Delia what she put in and stump up the cash to clear the debts and invest in the squad - to suggest that he should get the club on the cheap because the fans are desparate to see big cash spent is just wrong.
DOn't get me wrong, I'd love to see Cullum take over, as has been mentioned before - he ticks all of the right boxes...
BUT I can see no indication from his statement that he's prepared to properly remunerate the current board, who have invested their time and money to shepard the club through very, very difficult years.
