Four points adrift entering November; stayed up with one game to spare. And no, Roeder wasn't "lying": I never accused him of this either. How many people can remember exactly what they were doing fifteen years ago? What I object to, though, is that the second-worst season in Gillingham's entire history - of which Roeder was in charge for its entirety - seems to have been turned into some sort of 'achievement'.

Similarly, it's being claimed on here that he was obviously unlucky to be relegated with 42 points at West Ham. This isn't true either. Roeder was hospitalised on 19 April, after the defeat at Bolton. This left them on 32 points from 34 games, six adrift of safety - at which point Trevor Brooking took temporary charge, did brilliantly, and accrued 10 points from four matches. It's Brooking who was unlucky, not Roeder!

Oh, and by the way - I'm not writing this to piss people off. I'm writing this because this IS his record - and take exception to accusing him of lying (and hence, being accused of lying myself).
