And what you've said is fair enough, of course - it's just that it reminds me massively of the way people look at what Strachan's achieved at Celtic (especially in Europe), and start suggesting it's better than what O'Neill did. This is daft: the context was completely different. As it was, really, when Parkinson took over at Col U, as opposed to Williams inheriting a successful team (which, certainly, he's worked wonders with).

By the way, am I the only one who finds the behaviour of Southend's chairman absolutely appalling? When Tilson took over there, they'd been stuck in the bottom half of League 2 for years: then he worked an absolute miracle. Southend OWE Tilson, in my book - yet Ron Martin seems prepared to ruin his chances of moving up the ladder. What does he expect? Tilson to stay at Southend forever?
