Over-complication and/or a lack of faith in his players' abilities didn't help, I thought.
That speech when he left (or was it just before?) about the players being "not bright enough" said a lot more than Grant probably intended to me - that he was overcomplicating things in a desperate attempt to prove to someone (the fans? The board? The players? Himself?) how clever he was, and that he considered himself better than the players?
It's just speculation, of course ...
