"Failed at Brentford"? Eh?

Get yer facts right man! Brentford - who haven't been promoted to the second flight for 15 years now - were in trouble when Mad Dog took over. Then, on literally nothing, he took them first into the top 6, then came very close to automatic promotion. The only reason they failed was because, having beaten Sunderland in the Cup and got national exposure as a result, DJ Campbell was sold to Birmingham - which pulled the rug completely from under their feet.

After finishing 3rd, missing out on the final day of the season and then losing in the play-offs, Allen quit and moved down a division to MK Dons that summer: quite a statement to make, given his genuine affection for Brentford, and the fact Franchise are such a pariah club. But the writing was on the wall at Griffin Park: crazy amounts of cuts were being proposed, and sure enough, down they went last season - and look where they are now. He's the best manager Brentford have had in many years: and is worth a crack at Norwich if we can't get Jewell, Coleman or Bruce.
