cna't find much to back up my claims succintly, so i'll put it into my own words

Basically the pilgrims ate a crappy version of cassoulet made with beans and maple syrup and pork bits, but then mr heinz industrialized the process and put it all in a tin. later, to cut costs, he left out the pork.
