Having recently done a lot of research into a specific Raid in WWII I am fed up with…

all Germans being portrayed in films as bloodthirsty Nazi’s who ignore the rules of war and fictional accounts glorifying death as instantaneous and painless.

In this raid there is the story of one of the two VCs awarded on the recommendation of a German Officer, he was a merchant seaman before the war and had pictures of his time doing Atlantic crossings to Liverpool in his cabin. His crew similarly gave every assistance to the injured British Commandos and Seamen including those that were clearly unlikely to survive from their wounds.

I know this is fiction but having a tagline about “destroying Nazis” is dangerously provocative. Reality was and still is massively different.

I have the utmost respect for anyone who is or has served in the UK armed forces but feel that things like this diminish the impact of reality.

(Will leave you to try and identify the battle action)
