Problem with the transition theory is that we have some persistent problems

That are arguably getting worse rather than better.

1. So many of our goals against are self inflicted. We are gifting a lot of goals to the opposition, due to slack passing and lack of organisation.
2. We really struggle with teams that press high with energy. (This linked to 1.)
3. Equally we struggle to break down teams that sit very deep and challenge us to break them down, as we lack a bit of invention and pace.
4. We are completely failing to adjust to the standards/thresholds applied by referees. Other teams just have a better approach to being very physical and getting away with it. We are far too often dragged into arguing with the ref and the opposition, and we are the ones getting booked/sent off/suspended. Getting lamped up and down is just par for the course. In summary, discipline and dealing with the dark arts is a problem.
5. We are not pressing particularly well for large parts of the game. Pressing ineffectually in ones and twos.

Thats quite the problem list. Either these things are sorted or mid table is the best we can ever expect. A lot will depend on whether the young lads are capable of improving from where they are over a sufficiently short time line. Maybe Crnac will be amazing when he’s 28…
